Picking the right driver

LED strip and many low voltage fittings need a driver to convert the mains supply. The ALL LED Drive24 range gives a 24V DC constant voltage output, so it pairs with 24V strip. Size the driver to the total load of the strip you are running, and leave some headroom rather than working it at its limit. The range runs from small drivers for a single cabinet run up to larger units for longer installs. Getting the driver right first time means the strip runs as it should and the job does not come back. Constant voltage drivers are the usual match for strip, while constant current drivers suit other fittings, so check what the strip or luminaire calls for.

Dimmable options

If the client wants to dim the strip from a wall dimmer, use the Drive24TD triac dimmable driver rather than a standard one. A standard driver on a dimmer circuit will not behave, and it is an easy mistake to make on a kitchen or bar job. Check each listing for the exact wattage and dimming details, and plan where the driver will sit so it stays accessible for future maintenance. Drivers give off heat, so avoid burying them in insulation or sealing them into a small void. Leave enough slack in the cables to pull the driver out later if it ever needs replacing.
