Where push in connectors earn their place

Push in connectors are popular for lighting circuits, ceiling roses, downlight runs and anywhere you need to join several conductors in a tight space. Strip to the right length, push the conductor home and the joint is made, with no screws to tighten or check later. The transparent bodies on most of these let you see the conductor has gone fully in, which is a quick visual check before you close up. They take a lot of the time out of second fix work, especially when you are working overhead and juggling a fitting at the same time.

Picking the right port count

The range runs from 2 port right up to 8 port, so you can match the connector to the number of conductors in the joint rather than leaving empty ports or doubling up. The 2 to 6 port versions come in packs of 100, and the 8 port is in a pack of 50, according to the product names. Each size has its own colour, red, orange, yellow, transparent, purple and black, which makes it easy to grab the right one from a mixed box. All six share the 24A 450V rating shown in their titles, so you are not juggling different ratings across the set.
