Cable Cleats in Sizes CC5 to CC11

Choosing the right cleat size

Cable cleats are sized to grip a particular cable diameter, so it pays to measure the overall diameter of the cable rather than going by its conductor size alone. Armoured cables with the same cross section can vary in overall size from one manufacturer to another. The cleats in this range are numbered from No. 5 through to No. 11, with each number suiting a larger cable than the last. If you are unsure which number you need, check the cleat details against your cable's datasheet, or call us with the cable type and size.

Where cleats are used

Cleats hold cable firmly in place on tray, ladder, strut and walls, which matters on long runs and vertical risers where the weight of the cable pulls on its fixings. They are common on sub main and distribution runs in commercial and industrial buildings, and on supplies to outbuildings and external equipment. A properly cleated run looks tidy, is easier to inspect, and stops the cable shifting over time. Pair the cleats with the right glands at each end and the whole run is finished to a proper standard.
